About Us

Dharam Hinduja Matric Higher Secondary School

Being a socially responsible and sensitive corporate citizen has always been part of business at Ashok Leyland. Even before Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) became a rule in the Companies Act 2013, Ashok Leyland had started improving the quality of environment and life at large, especially in North Chennai.

DHS is affiliated to the government of Tamil Nadu. It has been a beacon of learning and growth since its establishment in 1994.

Founded with the vision of Ashok Leyland, the school was created to provide quality education to the children of Ashok Leyland employees and the wider community in and around Thiruvottiyur.

Governed by the Dharam Hinduja Trust under the able leadership of Dr. Patrick Ranjitkumar J.R. and Mr. Giridhar .S, the school began its journey with just 60 students, 3 teachers and a single classroom.

Over the years, it has grown into one of the most respected institutions in Thiruvottiyur. Our first batch appeared for the SSLC board examination in 1999 and the Higher Secondary Examination in 2001.

Today, DHS stands out as an institution known for academic excellence and holistic development. We believe that education is not limited to academics alone; hence, equal emphasis is given to sports, cultural programmes, and extracurricular activities.

At DHS, our mission is to nurture children academically, physically and emotionally, while instilling in them values of integrity, discipline and respect for culture. We strive to empower every student to succeed in life and contribute positively to the society.

Our school emblem & Its meaning

The Dharam Hinduja Matric Higher Secondary School logo represents the school’s mission and values through meaningful visual elements.

Central symbol: reflects knowledge, learning and enlightenment - the core purpose of education at our institution.

Radiating elements: symbolize growth, energy and aspiration, encouraging students to reach beyond their limits.

Circular harmony: represents unity, balance and holistic development - emphasizing that academic learning, personal growth and social values are interconnected.

Together, these elements express the school’s belief that education is not just about intellectual achievement, but about developing well-rounded, principled and compassionate citizens.
